Reacting strongly to a lahore High Court order on Thursday ordering the relelase of 26 November Mumbai terror attacks prime accused Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, India said this "eroded" the value of assurances repeatedly conveyed to the country by Pakistan on cross- border terrorism.
The Lahore High Court had on Thursday dismissed the Punjab government's detention order against LeT commander Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi.
Lakhvi is the prime accused in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
Lakhvi had been in detention under a government order since 18 December, within days of a Pakistani anti-terrorism court granting him bail.
Lakhvi had challenged an order of the Punjab government to detain him for 30 days, on 14 March .
The Punjab government had previously maintained that Lakhvi has been detained based on sensitive information provided by intelligence agencies.
However, despite the High court's order of immediate release, Lakhvi could not be released as the jail authorities have not received the release order so far.
