Saudi curriculum in the UK raises government concern
22 Nov 2010
The UK government has said it would not tolerate anti-Semitic and homophobic teachings in books used in some Muslim schools.
According to BBC Panorama, the longest running investigative TV show in the world, on BBC One, the official Saudi national curriculum is
being taught in more than 40 Saudi Students' Schools and Clubs to about 5,000 pupils.
One text book even contains material on how hands and feet of thieves are chopped off.
The Saudi government has meanwhile denied any official ties to the part-time schools and clubs.
However, the Saudi government owns a west London building from where Panorama obtained one of the text books.
The director of education for the Saudi Students' Schools and Clubs said that the Saudi Cultural Bureau, which is part of the embassy, had authority over the network.
