Tata Technologies to invest Rs1,500 cr in skilling centres in Telangana

Tata Technologies has proposed to invest Rs1,500 crore (about $1.80 billion) to back government’s efforts for setting up skilling centres in Telangana, reports citing state government sources said on Thursday.
Tata Technologies will set up skilling centres in 50 government-run industry training organisations, as part of its policy of investing in people.
The Rs1,500-crore investment is part of a larger commitment from Tata Group companies, such as Tata Consultancy Services and Tata Advanced Systems, to expand in Telangana, say reports.
Tata Technologies, a global product engineering and digital services company, providing engineering services to auto, aero and heavy machinery makers, is looking to develop new technologies for future growth.
Tata Technologies also, on Thursday, announced the successful conclusion of its `InnoVent’ hackathon, an innovation platform that provides young engineering students in India with an opportunity to showcase their creativity and innovate solutions to address the challenges being faced by the manufacturing industry.
The hackathon saw enthusiastic participation with 2,696 budding engineers across 229 colleges in India submitting 814 unique projects. Tata Technologies concluded the hackathon with top 10 participants presenting their prototypes at the Tata Technologies’ headquarters in Hinjawadi, Pune.
Tata Technologies also honoured the winners with cash prizes and job offers. The top three winning teams received cash prizes worth Rs4.5 lakhs and all the top 10 finalists were offered career opportunities at Tata Technologies.
Subject matter experts from the company facilitated over 590 hours of mentoring – conducting workshops and training the project team/s so that they can scale their ideas.
