Snapdeal appoints Airtel's Anand Chandrasekaran as product head

Snapdeal, India's largest online marketplace, has appointed Anand Chandrasekaran as chief product officer.
Chandrasekaran was chief product officer at Bharti Airtel, where he was responsible for product conceptualisation, design and delivery as well as driving strategic technology partnerships among others.
''We are very excited to have Chandrasekaran on-board. He comes with 15 years of rich experience in building world class products for at scale digital businesses,'' said Snapdeal co-founder Rohit Bansal.
''Snapdeal is in a phase of hyper growth and I believe under Chandrasekaran's leadership we will set new benchmarks for intuitive and highly engaging products not just within India but globally as well,'' he added.
Previously Chandrasekaran was with Yahoo, where he was senior director of search products and member of search leadership as well as senior director for mobile.
He led the mobile product and engineering teams to build next generation mobile experiences, product growth, monetisation, content discovery and personalisation for products like mobile search and Yahoo! Answers, among others.

Prior to Yahoo, Chandrasekaran was director of product at Openwave driving product management for the mobile mediation gateway which touched 200 million users and generated $150 million in revenue. Earlier, he co-founded Aeroprise Inc, a company which was later acquired by BMC Software.
