Tata Global Beverages CEO Unsworth resigns
25 May 2011
Even as Tata Global Beverages announced poor results for the 2010-11 fiscal, its chief executive officer Peter Unsworth put in his papers.
The Rs5,982-crore company made this announcement to exchanges just before it declared its full-year results. It said Unsworth had resigned for personal reasons. The resignation would be effective from 30 June.
Unsworth, who is also a non-executive director on the board, was responsible for managing Tata Global Beverages companies worldwide and was instrumental in managing the Tetley brand.
A statement issued by the company said, ''A successor to Peter will be announced soon. As an interim measure, after 30 June, Percy Siganporia will take over the global responsibilities of chief executive officer, Tata Global Beverages, from Peter.''
Siganporia is currently the managing director of the company, and has been with Tata Global Beverages Ltd - formerly Tata Tea Ltd - since 1974.
This is the second high-profile departure from TGB after Sangeeta Talwar, regional president, South Asia, resigned in July last year.
