Firming up the succession plans at one of the country's largest business houses, TVS Motor has appointed Sudarshan Venu as additional director of a key group firm Sundaram-Clayton Ltd (SCL).
Twenty-two-year-old Sudarshan Venu is the son of TVS Group's chairman and managing director Venu Srinivasan, and is the latest in the fourth generation of the TVS family to join the business.
SCL is a manufacturer of aluminium die-casting and also an investment arm for the group.
The firm also holds a 9-per cent stake in TVS Motors, the biggest company in the group. SCL also holds stakes in other group companies, such as TVS Electronics, TVS investments, TVS Capital, TVS Energy and Anusha Investments.
"He is a non-executive and non-independent director of the company," the company said in a filing with stock exchanges on Friday.
Sudarshan's elder sister, Lakshmi Venu, who recently married Infosys founder N R Narayana Murthy's son Rohan Murthy, had joined the board of Sundaram Clayton in March 2010, as director, strategy.
