Mumbai: Ranbaxy Laboratories has withdrawn all its generic versions of antiretroviral drugs from WHO list of approved HIV drugs, saying it was uncertain whether they were biologically the same as the patented drugs.
Ranbaxy decided on the withdrawal after finding discrepancies in the documentation about proof of bioequivalence of its generic drugs with the patented medicines. The company plans to undertake new studies, the first of which is expected in December, to establish their bioequivalence.
