Tata Motors, Tata Power team up for setting up commercial vehicle charging stations

Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Limited, a subsidiary of Tata Power Ltd, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with group company Tata Motors Ltd for setting up 200 fast-charging stations for electric commercial vehicles.

Tata Motors, India's largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, aims to expand the market for commercial EVs with the setting up of necessary infrastructure of fast-charging stations.

These fast-charging stations, to be set up initially in major cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru and Kolkata, will focus on providing easy charging solutions for smaller ECVs.

As per the MoU signed between Tata Motors and Tata Power, these charging stations will offer special tariff for Tata vehicles, so that these ECV owners can bring down operating costs.

Tata Motors currently offers charging support to its the Ace EV through over 150 Electric Vehicle Service Centers nationwide

Eventually, the number of ECV charging stations, to be set up in strategic locations, will go up to 1,000 as the number of ECVs across the country go up.

With access to nearly 1,000 charging stations across the country, ECV users will soon benefit from easy access to fast chargers.

Tata Power already provides charging facility to 1,00,000 homes through its EZ Chargers besides over 5,500 public, semi-public, and fleet charging points and over 1,100 bus charging stations across 530 accessible cities and towns. 

These chargers are deployed at accessible locations such as highways, hotels, malls, hospitals, offices, residential complexes, etc.
