‘Bogus’ trust: Khurshid will kill proof, says Kejriwal

Unrelenting in his campaign against corruption in high places, India Against Corruption leader Arvind Kejriwal today said union law minister Salman Khurshid was tampering with evidence to cover up IAC's charge that Khurshid and his wife Louise were using a charitable trust they control to siphon public funds.

Kejriwal said the union cabinet minister would destroy all evidence against him within 10 days in relation to the Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust set up in Uttar Pradesh to help physically challenged persons.

Kejriwal has turned the originally apolitical IAC into a political party, along with colleagues like senior lawyer Prashant Bhushan. The party has been saying since last week that funds were put into the trust by the UP government only to benefit Khurshid, and his 'disclosures' were an eyewash.

Kejriwal claimed that names and facts were misrepresented in the list provided by Khurshid's Zakir Hussain trust (which incidentally has no connection with the well-known tabla player of the same name) in response to his charges.

Kejriwal said that despite all efforts, some of the supposed beneficiaries of the trust were untraceable at the addresses provided in the list.

To buttress his point he produced before the media a social activist from Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh who confirmed that some beneficiaries were fictitious while others were not actually disabled.
